1. Who is responsible for your data
SmartCodeFixer is a trading name of DIGISMART MEGA LTD, registered in England and Wales under company number 16925464, 192 Downing Road, Dagenham, England, RM9 6LU. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR). Contact: info@smartcodefixer.com.
If you are an organisation and your users submit other people's personal data to us, we act as your processor for that data under our Data Processing Agreement.
2. What we collect
- Account and order details: your name, email address, the plan you bought, the date and amount of your payment.
- Payment information: card payments are handled by Airwallex on its own secure page. We receive confirmation of the payment and limited details (such as card type and last four digits), never your full card number.
- Code and error details you submit: the code snippets, files and error messages you send for analysis, and the explanations and fixes we return (“fix history”).
- Usage information: how many fixes you use, your plan limits, and technical logs such as IP address, browser type and time of requests, used to run and secure the service.
- Messages: what you send us by email or through the contact form.
Code you submit can contain personal data (for example names or email addresses in test data). Please avoid submitting personal data, secrets or credentials you do not need us to see.
3. How we use it and our legal basis
- To provide the service you bought, including analysing your code, showing your fix history and personalising suggestions to your coding style (performance of a contract).
- To process payments and refunds and keep financial records (contract; legal obligation).
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems (legitimate interests).
- To reply to your messages and send service emails such as your access link (contract; legitimate interests).
- To send product news, only if you agree, and you can unsubscribe at any time (consent).
We do not use your code to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal data.
4. AI providers
To generate explanations and fixes, we send the code and error details you submit to large language models from OpenAI (ChatGPT models) and Anthropic (Claude models) through their business API services. Under their API terms, these providers do not use data sent through the API to train their models. They may keep it for a limited period for security and abuse monitoring, as set out in their own terms.
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run SmartCodeFixer:
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Airwallex | Payment processing (card payments, refunds) | UK / EU / global |
| OpenAI | AI models that generate explanations and fixes (business API) | United States |
| Anthropic | AI models that generate explanations and fixes (business API) | United States |
| Hostinger | Website hosting | Data centre of our hosting plan (EU or US) |
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to our professional advisers. Each provider may only use your data to provide its service to us.
6. International transfers
Some providers process data outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on adequacy regulations (such as the UK–US data bridge) where available, or on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Fix history and account data: while you have access, and for 90 days after your last access period ends so you can pick up where you left off. After that we delete it, or sooner if you ask.
- Payment and order records: 6 years, as UK tax and accounting law requires.
- Messages to us: up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
- Technical logs: up to 90 days.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to what is needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the regulator where the law requires.
9. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to restrict or object to how we use it. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email info@smartcodefixer.com; we reply within one month.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or, if you live in the EU, to your local data protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to help first.
10. Cookies
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on our website. See our Cookie Policy.
11. Age
SmartCodeFixer is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes
We will post any changes to this policy here and update the date at the top of the page.
